Been an interesting few days. Haven't gotten my bio test back, but the class nearly gave me a heart attack regardless. Here's how it went:
I thought we didn't have any homework due on Wednesday. After all, on Blackboard previous to the test, the homework assignments had stopped at the test, and we were to turn in our homework folders on Wednesday. Makes sense to not have homework. Ten minutes before I leave to grab breakfast on the way to class, I decide to double check just to make sure.
I open up Blackboard. And
oh...my...God... - five new assignments listed! And one due today!
I frantically tried to scribble out some answers in the fifteen minutes before class. And this was not easy to do, as that stuff is in some incomprehensible language to me and takes three times longer than normal to read. I then realize I'm going to be late to class, and run there. I even took the stairs because the elevator would take too long. I collapse into a chair that wasn't mine one minute before the start of class. For the rest of class, I try to furtively complete my homework...and fail. I was turning in my homework with a sigh at the end of class when I heard a girl ask, "Do we have to turn in our homework that was due today, too?"
"Nope," my professor replied. "Just the ones from the last unit. I guess I wasn't clear enough."
Arrrrgggghhhh.
Katie and Michelle surprised me last night for Gilmore Girls night. Those girls are sneaky, lemme tell ya. I think I had a goofy grin on my face for the rest of the night. And we had fun with the propaganda and toys for Healthy Lovin Week. Oh, and that reminds me! I got a T-shirt for it today. I thought it was really cute until I realized that the fox on the back had condoms on its ears and tail. Must not wear around elderly.
I was feeling low, so I walked to Park Ave CDs (on
real Park Ave... none of that ripoff UCF business for me :P). They have T-shirts now. I drooled over a boysetsfire tanktop, drooled over a Saddle Creek t-shirt that I'm sure would have fit me (it was really cute, though the guy was bleeding through the eyes), and drooled over the Art Is Hard single. Then I bought The Lost Boys soundtrack from the used section for five dollars. Sigh. Hey, I
am a college student. And I'm enjoying the soundtrack quite a bit. Reminds me of being five years old.
I'm being good and having a smoothie instead of ice cream. It's actually good, and I got to go with Michelle. Woooo.
Valentine's Day is coming...and I have no idea if I have plans or what. My dad sent me a card, though, and my mom sent a care package that is currently in the mail. I can't wait. :)
Perhaps I shall be good and go to sleep early. Novel concept, but I do seem to be getting healthier...
Oh, I told Katie I would post lyrics. Here we go. This one's a good one. Doesn't reflect my current mood at all, btw.
Driftwood: A Fairy Tale
So he would sulk and drink and mope
and cross his arms and hope to die.
And then a fairy came one night
to bring the sorry boy to life.
She pulled some strings
and spun him about.
That boy sprang up
and began to shout,
"My arms, my legs, my heart, my face
they're alive!"
And she would cry, "Liar, liar!
What have I done?
You're no lover, and I'm no fighter."
(The story goes on)
So he would buy her things and kiss her hair
to show he was for real.
And she would take those gifts and kisses
though just stringing him along.
She knew about those wooden boys -
it's an empty love to fill the void.
"Pinocchio! Oh boy, how your nose has grown!"
So he would cry, "Liar, liar!
I'll prove it to you!"
But then it grew - he had grown tired of her.
So, it was true...
He left her apartment, and he walked all night long
'til he was stopped by the shore of the ocean.
But still he walked on, amongst the whales
and the waves, and screamed,
"Liar! Liar!"
And his wooden body floated away.
He just drifted away.
And now I wonder how I was made...
my arms, my legs, my heart, my face,
my name is Driftwood.
